Green Ox History: 2015 – Present

The story of Green Ox pallets is a remarkable journey that began in 2015, when the concept for a unique corrugated cardboard pallet was first developed. This laid the foundation for what would become an innovative and successful company in the logistics and freight transportation industry, delivering high added value through sustainability and CO₂ reduction.

Years: 2015 - 2017

The Early Steps

In 2015, a group of visionary entrepreneurs came together to address a common challenge in the logistics industry: the need for pallets that were lighter, more sustainable and durable enough to be used in racking systems and transported over long distances, while remaining competitive with existing industry solutions.

This is when the idea of developing corrugated cardboard pallets emerged as an innovative alternative to traditional wood and plastic pallets, although further development was still required.

During the first two years, the Green Ox pallet development team, based in the United States and Costa Rica, embarked on its first research and development project, focused on applications for the transportation of fresh products.

The team worked extensively to refine the design, strength and durability of the corrugated cardboard pallets.

Expansion

In 2018, Green Ox pallets began initial testing with a newly designed structural pallet capable of transporting fresh produce under demanding conditions involving humidity, temperature variations and refrigerated storage.

The GOX Ultra Plus pallet was officially tested in the Costa Rican market for applications involving fresh pineapples, tropical roots and bananas.

Our corrugated cardboard pallets proved to be a highly innovative solution. They were lighter than traditional pallets, offered strength comparable to wood or plastic alternatives, and provided additional advantages in terms of recyclability, carbon footprint reduction, prevention of cross-contamination from fungi and insects, and lower waste generation at destination.

These benefits helped increase value for pallet users while reducing environmental impact.

Green Ox pallets also provided an innovative logistics solution because they were 100% recyclable and fully customizable, attracting interest from a wide range of industries.

During this period, we focused on building relationships with customers and strategic partners, including trade promotion organizations, as was the case in Costa Rica.

This expansion enabled us to strengthen our presence in Spain and the Netherlands and enter new markets and industry sectors.

Growth and Consolidation

Driven by growing industry interest, Green Ox recognized the need to move beyond manual assembly and began developing an automated pallet assembly machine in Spain.

During this period, despite the global impact of COVID-19, we continued innovating and developing the components required to complete the Green Ox automated assembly system.

By the end of 2023, the assembly machine was ready for testing in both the Americas and Europe as part of a pilot project for commercial expansion.

With this vision, Green Ox prepared for a broader market launch in 2024, focused on the global distribution of an innovative logistics solution designed around sustainability and environmental responsibility. Target sectors included fresh and processed foods, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, air freight, textiles and other industries.

Our goal at Green Ox is to become a global leader in corrugated cardboard pallet technology. We aim to make a significant contribution to reducing the carbon footprint of global supply chains while establishing a strong position as a key player in the transition toward more sustainable logistics.

In summary, the Green Ox story demonstrates how innovation, vision and a strong commitment to sustainability can transform an industry and drive business growth.

From our beginnings in 2015 to our expansion and consolidation in recent years, we have shown that it is possible to rethink logistics and deliver an efficient, high-performance and sustainable solution for modern supply chain challenges.
